CENTRAL AMERICAN SUPPER NIGHT

As it is my business, I attended the invitation to preview the tallest new rental building in Manhattan today.  Located in the downtown area, it had beautiful views of Manhattan, NJ and Brooklyn Bridges.  The finishes are luxurious but the rooms are a bit small - but hey, I've seen worst condition in hot areas in the West Village without a view.  Can't have it all.

As I came back home, I then decided to make something hearty to keep me warm and energized from being out in the cold.

It's Chilli con Carne night inspired by a Dominican restaurant I ate in a few years ago.

Ingredients:  3/4 good ground beef (I prefer bought from a store like Whole Foods where I'm sure it doesn't have hormones and antibiotics), can of whole tomatoes, half an onion chopped, 4 cloves of minced garlic, cilantro, long green peppers (I used 4), chilli powder, cumin, olive oil, salt, pepper, and a can of organic cooked black beans - or red beans if you have it.

I served this with rice I cooked in a rice cooker adding olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paella seasoning before cooking.

Accompanied with chopped avocado, sliced sweet onions, sliced tomatoes, olive oil and key lime juice - fleur de sel and freshly ground pepper for seasoning.

We decided to garnish some shredded raw cheddar and thought this could be a taco filling!  Also ate it with hot sauce on the side.

A friend dropped by, and there was more than enough to feed another one.  A great supper, healthy, and economical!
